Fight against gambling Centre-right Christian Democratic Union and centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) politicians are currently looking for ways to contain gambling in Frankfurt. The problem is thought to lie with industrial and commercial gambling. Between 2005 and 2009, 30,000 new commercial slot machines were installed. The number of non-profit machines diminished. That's why Boris Rhein, chairman of the Frankfurt CDU, wants to see the same strict regulations applied to commercial gambling as for public gambling. SPD politician Ursula Busch aims for a different angle. She is hoping to impose higher taxes on slot machines to curb the spread of new gambling halls. Register to read more... |
